NATO ministers meeting in Estonia to bring traffic restrictions, checks on border

Before and during the NATO foreign ministers meeting later this month, traffic restrictions will apply in Tallinn's city center and documents of incoming travellers will be checked on the country's borders.
 
 

Temporary street signs and other means will be used to forbid parking in many streets in the area between the Olümpia and Swissotel hotels and the Estonia opera house from 
April 19-23. 
Rävala Boulevard and the Laikmaa, Kivisilla, Tornim
äe, Lauteri, Pääsukese and Väike-Pääsukese streets will be closed to traffic from 1 a.m. on April 21 to 24:00 on April 23.
From 6 p.m. on April 22 until 1 a.m. on April 23, Estonia Boulevard, G. Otsa Street and the Theatre Square will be closed to traffic.

Residents, people working in the area and customers of the area's businesses will be able to enter on foot provided that they carry an ID. Additional police personnel will be brought in from other areas of Estonia, but public safety in regions will not be left without attention.
Document checks on the Estonian-Latvian border, an internal border of the Schengen area, will be restored for incoming travellers for the period from April 17-23, just like document checks in ports and airports.
The NATO foreign ministers meeting will take place in Tallinn from April 22-23. Also to take part in the meeting are representatives from NATO's partner nations and countries contributing in 
Afghanistan. In all 45 countries and organizations are about to send 500-550 delegates to the meeting.
The Estonian foreign minister on Tuesday described the upcoming meeting as the largest international policy event in Estonia.
